Proper spinal alignment is important for many reasons, but how do you know if your spine is in alignment or not?
Poor posture and not-so-healthy lifestyle choices can affect your spinal alignment, which can lead to joint pain, headaches, decreased energy, a sore back and more. Maintaining proper spinal alignment is important, which is why our Santa Fe chiropractor went over a few tips for proper spinal alignment in our last blog series. But how do you know if your spine is aligned or not? Here are a few signs that your spine is out of alignment:
#1. The heels of your shoes wear out unevenly.
When the pelvis or lumbar spine is out of alignment, your body compensates by putting an excessive amount of stress in certain areas, commonly in one leg. This can be so severe that it causes you to walk differently, but even in mild cases, you can usually find the evidence when you look at how the heels of your shoes wear down.
#2. You have a hard time twisting or turning your head.
A reduced range of motion is a common sign that your spine is out of alignment, so if you find that you can’t seem to turn your head well, or you have a hard time twisting from side to side, go visit your chiropractor.
#3. You just don’t feel good.
If you are constantly feeling drained, sore or just not right, it could be a sign that your nervous system, which includes the spine, is out of balance. When your nervous system isn’t balanced, it makes it difficult to balance out your overall health.
