Navigating the cold and flu season can go beyond conventional medicine. Support your body and explore your wellness options!

In the health and wellness space, there is a binary that often butts heads — it’s the us vs. them mentality — and in the end, don’t we all just want to be the healthiest, most thriving versions of ourselves?

The vernacular we’re hearing these days is vaxxers vs. anti-vaxxers, and if you’re here to debate it, we’re just not interested. If you’re here to learn about homeopathy and homeopathic flu shots, well pull up a chair, sip on your favorite tea, and examine this topic with us today!

What Is Homeopathy?

Before we dive right into homeopathic flu shots, let’s get a better understanding of what homeopathy is. Homeopathy is a medical model that spans centuries with its roots going all the way back to Hippocrates. And while the United States is still catching up, homeopathy is recognized and widely used in England, France, Germany, Holland, Italy, and India.

In the US were familiar with our medical system being based around the Law of Opposites — antibiotics, antihistamines, antidepressants, etc — while homeopathy focuses on like treats like, or the Law of Similars. When you have a traditional model such as the Law of Opposites, it suppresses and provides temporary relief leaving room for getting to the root of the cause. This is why functional medicine, chiropractic, and other non-traditional medical models are gaining acceptance — because they’re not just putting a bandage on something, they’re getting to the root of the cause and able to treat and cure.

Homeopathy uses likes and formulates accordingly by using extremely diluted substances that the person may be suffering from. For example, someone who is experiencing sleep issues may use caffeine to help support sleep — remember, like treats like.

Vaccines and The Law Of Similars

Vaccines implement the idea of the Law of Similars — it’s using a strain of the flu virus and injecting it into the body in hopes of creating protection against the virus, but where it falls short is in the dilution. Oftentimes, a traditional flu shot has too much of the virus and causes adverse reactions — it’s a shock to our system.

A traditional flu shot doesn’t work right away, as it takes about two weeks before its effective which is why doctors recommend getting them early in the fall. It’s also important to mention that even if you are vaccinated, you can still get the flu, but we’ll touch more on that later.

Let’s examine the 2017-2018 flu season. In a study from the CDC, they tracked the occurrence of the flu in 4,562 kids and adults and found that there was only a 36% efficacy rate overall.

In a homeopathic flu shot, it’s similar to a flu vaccine except it differs in the dilution. It’s a much smaller dose of the virus material and allows the body to gradually build immunity while avoiding the side effects of a traditional flu shot.

The Difference in Homeopathic Flu Shots

Every year, the traditional flu vaccine is prepared by federal health agency officials where they which three flu strains may be active in the following cold and flu season — if they guess correctly, there is a 70% to 90% chance of immunity to the selected strains. And since the strains mutate every season, health care professionals suggest getting a flu shot every year.

Homeopathic flu shots work in a different way as they stimulate our immune system and strengthen our resistance of the flu viral elements, making the strain of last year or the following season irrelevant.

Homeopathic flu shots are a series of shots that are administered typically once a month between October and run through March.

In addition to implementing the homeopathic flu shot, chiropractic care is also highly recommended in the cold and flu season. It has been observed that those who received chiropractic care better supported the health and wellness of their nervous system, thus strengthening their immunity.
