The number one excuse people give for not exercising is not having time.
In our previous blog, our Santa Fe chiropractic clinic went over just a few of the reasons why regular exercise is so important. However, in order to reap the benefits of exercise, you have to make time in your schedule for it. It’s not always easy to find time to exercise, and a lack of time is the number one excuse people give for not exercising. Here are a few things you can do to find time in your busy schedule for exercise:
#1. Exercise during your commute.
If you live close enough to your work, then you could be using your commute to get your heart rate up. Try running or cycling to work instead of driving. If you live a bit farther, you could park far away from the entrance of your office or ride the bus and get out a few blocks before you get home to move a bit more.
#2. Get a workout in during lunch.
Try bringing your lunch to work and eating it at your desk. This way, you can use your actual lunch hour to get moving! Even if you can’t make it to the gym, a short walk will be better than just sitting at your desk all day.
#3. Be active with your kids.
Busy parents tend to have the most difficulty finding time to exercise, but a simple change in your mindset can work wonders for your activity level. Instead of searching for that elusive alone-time to work up a sweat, start exercising with your kids! Play running games with them outside, like tag, and use your time at the jungle gym to work on your pull-ups or tricep dips on the monkey bars. Short bursts of activity like these can really add up!
Exercise is one the most important things you can do to improve your health and well-being, and it’s important to make time in your schedule for it.
